SHOVEL READY

Obama's Libya Speech Crashes and Burns

We finally know what Barack Obama meant when he kept talking about “shovel ready” projects.  It wasn’t to boost our sagging economy and shrinking labor force.  Nah.  By shovel ready, Barack meant unloading a pile of manure into our faces while telling us it’s cookie dough ice cream, of the homemade variety.
Forget for a moment that Obama premised action in Libya on the fulcrum that “the United States of America has played a unique role as an anchor of global security and advocate for human freedom,” which pretty much validates George W. Bush’s Iraq policy, the same policy that state Sen. Obama called a “dumb war” and that he frenetically played up in order to create early separation between him and Hillary Clinton in the 2008 primaries.  Yeah, disregard that for now.
Obama’s entire speech last night was aimless, peppered with contradictions, and left us wondering, “Hmm.  It’s still not clear why we’re bombing the snot out of Libya.”

American Fear

American Fear
By Don Cooper

Whether they realize it or not Americans live in a constant state of fear every day. I'm not referring to the fears of everyday life like losing a job or having an accident of some kind, but rather a more sinister and devious fear; a fear that Americans only dare talk about around the water cooler or at cocktail parties so as not to be taken seriously; a fear they try to mask with a whimsical tone of sarcasm or indifference. Whether Americans want to admit it or not, it's the single greatest fear in their lives: fear of the government.

Right about now there are those reading this thinking: Don Cooper is a drunk. To which I reply: what's that got to do with it? Maybe more people should drink if that's what it takes to sober up and confront what they are really afraid of.

In their defense, I'll admit that reality is scary. No argument that living in delusion is warmer, safer, cozier, and easier. Pretending is always more fun than reality, that's why we go to the movies. But fear of the government is a fear that invades a person's soul and - since the government intervenes in every aspect of our lives - it affects every move we make every day.

Fear of the government is hard to recognize and acknowledge. It's a fear that we are taught early on in life and to which we become accustomed. We inevitably end up tucking it away in the far reaches of our minds in order to function "normally" every day and live our lives. But just as a car backfiring will trigger a sense of fear from a shell- shocked veteran, so too can the State trigger that sense of fear they've instilled in us.

One need only ask: when you see a cop in your rearview mirror with his lights on, do you feel a sense of safety and comfort or do you get a shot of adrenaline from your body's "fight or flight" reflex? Do you immediately start asking yourself what he could possibly pull you over for, other than the fact that he was abused as a child, bullied at school and his mother didn't love him, and now he's going to whittle away at that chip on his shoulder by abusing you.

As you search for your proof of government permission to drive (i.e., your license), and your government permission to own the car (i.e., your registration), and your proof of government mandated insurance, do you do so calmly and with a smile on your face and with gleeful anticipation of speaking with someone who gives of himself to serve and protect you, or do you do so nervously, fumbling through your papers hoping everything's up to date and acceptable to him for fear of being detained for whatever reason and having it affect your job, your family, and every aspect of your life?

And when it's all over, do you feel glad that it happened or are you just glad it's over? Later that evening do you recount the story to others with a sense of pride, or do you do so with a sharp tongue and kick yourself for all the things you wish you would have had the presence of mind to say at the time but didn't? Do you feel happy that you have to pay $150 to the government because you were driving down the street faster than the government allows you to, or are you angry?

And in the end, do you send the money to the government even though you don't agree with it? Even though you feel it's unfair to have to pay so much money yet you've harmed no one? Of course you do. And why? Because you're afraid of what the government will do to you if you don't. In the end, you'll retreat back into your cubby-hole of delusion in order to justify paying the fine by convincing yourself that what you did was wrong, the government was right, and you deserve the punishment.

My favorite delusional argument from those still attached to the matrix is that they pay their taxes voluntarily. To these people I ask: when you do your tax returns, do you take as many deductions as the government will allow you? Of course, the answer is always yes. Then I ask them that if they could take enough deductions such that their tax liability was zero would they do so? Again, not surprisingly, the answer is yes. I then ask them that if their preference is to pay zero taxes then why don't they simply refuse to pay taxes. Inevitably, that's where their train of thought always runs out of track. Of course everyone knows the answer: because they're afraid of what the government will do.

I challenge everyone to ask themselves: when was the last time you even thought about the possibility you might be robbed, your house broken into or shot at? Can you even remember? Now ask yourself when was the last time you were afraid of doing something that could be deemed "illegal" by the government and for which you could be fined, detained or arrested? Something like not wearing a seatbelt, speeding, making a U-turn, going through a yellow light, not crossing the street at the cross-walk, riding a bike on a sidewalk, forgetting your license at home, taking too many deductions on your taxes, talking on your phone while driving, not allowing strangers to touch you or your children at the airport, cutting down a tree on your own property, owning and transporting a gun, collecting rain water and the list goes on. I would wager the answer is: daily! The first word out of everybody's mouth when asked a normal, completely benign question these days is: "Well legally..." It's first and foremost on our minds, and why wouldn't it be, there are 76,000 pages to just the federal register alone. Some argue that everyone commits at least three felonies every day!

Ignorance is a dangerous thing, and it must be stopped in our lifetime, fo' it kill somebody.

At the end of the day, all government mandates are enforced at the end of the barrel of a gun, and that scares the hell out of everyone, as it should. But if we truly believe we are free then we have to start acting like it. It's time we cared about something bigger than ourselves. It's time we stopped living our lives in fear.

Having said all that, I'm not holding my breath. It's proven to be difficult to convince people that freedom is more important than the real housewives of New Jersey.

And that's why I drink!

Regards,

Don Cooper

Obama appoints radical transgender

"...as one of the first transgender presidential appointees to the federal government, I hope that I will soon be one of hundreds"
                 Amanda Simpson
                 Obama’s Transgender Appointee
Apparently Obama is secretly planning to saturate the federal government with radical homosexuals, by bowing to the demands of the Homosexual Lobby and appointing the transgender Amanda Simpson to the Department of Commerce.

Having served on the Board of Directors for two national organizations (Out & Equal and National Council for Transgender Equality), both extensions of the Homosexual Lobby, Simpson is an outspoken and clearly radical advocate of the Homosexual Agenda.

Regardless of whether this individual is qualified for the position, Amanda Simpson made it apparent that his/her number one priority is the advancement of the Homosexual Agenda. Something we have been seeing more and more of.

This is hardly Obama’s first indication of his desire to payback the Homosexual Lobby, such as the hiring and subsequent refusal to fire the radical homosexual “Safe Schools Czar” Kevin Jennings.

But it serves as a reminder of the real threat out there. . . Barney Frank’s Gay Bill of Special Rights.

Make plans now to appeal your property tax bill

Remember when our property taxes would creep up, sometimes by 50% in one year, and Cairo messenger would report city and county fathers did not raise taxes? Not even 1 mil? No, they would just let the tax assessor do it by re-evaulation. Now that property values have dropped up to 50%, they don't want to come back down as the Law requires. You, and everyone else, should appeal your next tax bill. If you don't, you'll lose the right to get your overpayment back when the lawsuits are finally settled. Be warned.

IRS to hire 16,000 new agents - OBAMA CARE

Congressman Dave Kamp (R-MI) says this would add 15% to the current IRS staff of 108,000.
Do you want some more IRS agents at a time when the UNITED STATES is broke? Do you want anymore government regulations at all?
Do you want some more local government regulations? How about Grady county's illegal overtaxation of private property in violation of Georgia law? You must fill out a protest form with TAX ASSESSOR, keep a copy.
How about Grady County's intention to stick our farmland with zoning regulations? Farm land needs no county restrictions that could interfere with food production. Don't listen to the state bureaucrats and Cairo Messenger. They are yello dog Democrats with good sanctimonious intentions, but they intend to rule. If they get it on the books, even a little bit, they can then work to turn the screws later - just as they did on sub-division regulations in 1988.
Insist on an irrevocable referendum for zoning. Talk to your commissioners, ask them to support Referendum. Go to the public hearings - raise hell. Don't mess with our food and fiber. No farm zoning regulation.

Over taxation in Grady County - example

ANDP’s report, prepared by Robert Charles Lesser & Co., breaks out the three ZIP codes with the most foreclosures in Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Fulton and Gwinnett counties and the average amount homeowners overpaid their taxes for 2009.
The study took sales values from the second half of 2008 and contrasted those numbers to the value the county set on the same property.
Analysts then calculated what the tax assessment would have been based on sales figures, compared to actual assessments on the same properties.
Ammo for appeals?
In the 15 ZIP codes with the most foreclosures, the average overpayment for 2009 was $491, the report says. Here are the ZIPs and the total estimated overpayment in each:
● Clayton: 30238, 30274 and 30296, $17 million overpayment.
● Cobb: 30168, 30127, and 30126, $8 million overpayment.
● DeKalb: 30038, 30058 and 30032, $16 million overpayment.
● Fulton: 30310, 30315 and 30331, $24 million overpayment.
● Gwinnett: 30039, 30045 and 30044, $17 million overpayment.
In DeKalb’s 30058, Henry-Frisby’s ZIP code, the average overpayment in 2009 was $391.
“There is a lot I can do with that money,” she said.
Harkness said she doesn’t have much hope of getting back the $513 ANDP’s report says was the average overpayment in her ZIP, 30032.
“But it is good to know, and it gives me something else to work with when I appeal this year,” she said.

The Casey Report

That the world financial system will have to face a reckoning day has been pretty much a given since the U.S. took the dollar, the world's reserve currency, off the gold standard. Since then, decades of profligacy, not just in the U.S., but all around the world, have distorted the global economy to the breaking point. It's only lasted as long as it has because of the great increases to productivity the computer and other wealth-creating technologies have created, and the fact that many individuals still produce more than they consume and save the difference – even as governments have stepped up their efforts at wealth confiscation.
I thought things might go over the edge in 1980, but I was early. I underestimated how much wealth there was left in the world for the politicians to plunder. But now, while there is more physical wealth in the world, in the form of factories, homes, powerful technologies, etc., there is also massively more debt. Governments – first-world governments, not just banana republics – are sliding towards default, and in the West most individuals have little or no savings. In the East, many have savings tied up in a deflating gargantuan real estate bubble.
For all the reasons we've discussed in many different ways, the Greater Depression we're sliding into is going to be catastrophic for the old world order.
Uneconomic patterns of production and consumption are going to be liquidated – they have to be – and that's going to smash a lot of people's rice bowls. In today's richest societies, people won't be able to move back to the family farm the way they did in the 1930s; there's no farm left in most families. There's not even that much family left in many families – instead of extended families that care for their elders, who educate the young while the able-bodied adults work, we send our elderly to fade away in institutions and our young to be indoctrinated in other institutions, and we barely know what our brothers and sisters are doing, let alone our other relatives. What happens to the huge masses of such people when unemployment benefits can no longer be extended?
Yes, "It can happen here," and it's going to. Maybe not this year, maybe not for several, but when the real crash gets underway, it'll be unstoppable, and it will destroy the status quo with a speed that will leave most people still waking up to the danger after the harm has already been done.

Overpaid Politicians to Leave City of Bell, Calif.

Salaries Scandal Sends Some Packing, but Will Bell Be on the Hook for Pensions?
Making twice as much as the President of the United States, City of Bell, Calif., politicians voted themselves some scandalous salaries and guaranteed annual raises. Now forced to resign, some Bell politicians might  still be on the hook for outrageous pensions.

City of Bell, Calif.: Blue Collar all the Way

As of 2008, City Data revealed that Bell has a population of about 36,700. With an estimated per capita income of approximately $13,244 in 2008, the city is primarily a blue collar locale.

It is noteworthy that about 91 percent of residents self-identify as Hispanic; in excess of 10 percent are unemployed, and about 35 percent have a high school diploma or higher. More than 53 percent of residents are foreign-born, with 51 percent naming Latin America as their place of origin.

It is fair to say that the City of Bell is poorer than its neighboring locales. In fact, a drive through the neighborhoods reveals older cars, overgrown lawns, chain link fences and crumbling sidewalks.

Corrupt Politicians or Just a Salaries Scandal?

Hardly a paradise, it is curious that the city manager makes roughly $800,000 a year. Add to this the guaranteed annual raise of 12 percent - as reported by the Los Angeles Times - as well as a police chief salary of $457,000, and these figures are in stark contrast to the per capita income of the average Bell resident.

The city manager initially started out at a modest $72,000 a year in 1993. By 2004, he more than tripled his salary. By 2004, his compensation went up to $442,000, which exceeds the mandated remuneration of $400,000 that the United States President enjoys.

Although California law limits the amount of money that public servants may be paid, the City of Bell voted to operate under a charter which exempts it from this provision. In fact, the 2005 Measure A was the sole occupant on a special elections ballot which elicited the low voter turnout of only 390 souls, as counted by the Times. Some 336 voters approved the designation of a charter, but there was no mention of salaries.

Quote P. J. O'Rourke:

"The princple feature of American liberalism is sanctimoniousness. By loudly denouncing all bad things- war, hunger and date rape-liberals testify to their own terrific goodness. More important, they promote themselves to membership in a self-selecting elite of those who care deeply about such things... it is a kind of natural aristocracy, and the wonderful thing about this aristocracy is that you don't have to be brave, smart, strong, or even lucky to join it, you just have to be liberal."

Social Security and Medicare is up 14% and 16% respectively on Obama's watch. Domestic spending is up 41%, Welfare is up 54%. Who will pay for this? How you like Obama now Grady County?

2.4 million federal civil employees

Heritage foundation have estimated that federal employees earn $14,000 more in pay and benefits than their private sector counter parts --- a disparity of  30-40 %. Federal pay and benefits per employee is about $120,000 per year, so that comes out to $288 billion this year. a freeze will save $20 billion.
Of course this disparity ensures that 2.4 million employees will vote Democrat. Now that disparity extends to all government employees - state, county, city. Virtually all voting Democrat. When was the last time you saw in a newspaper government employee pay? I think the last time was about 1998 in the Grady County Inquirer.

Homosexual agenda in congress

The Radical Homosexuals infiltrating the United States Congress have a plan:

Indoctrinate an entire generation of American children with pro-homosexual propaganda and eliminate traditional values from American society.

Their ultimate dream is to create a new America based on sexual promiscuity in which the values you and I cherish are long forgotten.

I hate to admit it, but if they pass the deceptively named “Student Non-Discrimination Act,” that’s exactly what they’ll do.

Better named the “Homosexual Classrooms Act,” its chief advocate in Congress is Rep. Jared Polis, himself an open homosexual and radical activist.

That’s why I need you to act quickly -- right away -- to protect our nation’s youth.

I have prepared the official “Protect Our Children’s Innocence” Petition to Congress for you to sign.

Please click here to sign it right away so I can rush it to the Capitol with thousands more.

Obama Calls for Stricter Enforcement of Gun Laws

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama is calling for more stringent enforcement of existing gun laws, citing the "awful consequences" of gun violence in American society.
Obama says legislation to bolster criminal background checks for gun buyers hasn't been properly implemented, with too many states providing "incomplete and inadequate" information.
Harass them until they do it his way.

Jessie Jackson Vows Revenge

Dear Newsmax Reader:
The Wisconsin House has followed the Senate in stripping Obama's bloated public unions of the power to line their pockets with taxpayer dollars.
On Friday, Gov. Walker courageously signed this law in to effect.
This is a huge victory not only for Wisconsin, but for all of America.
And it's a stunning defeat for Obama's bloated public-unions allies.
That's why Team Obama is so raving mad and they want Scott Walker and his supporters in Wisconsin to pay a heavy price.
Already, they are demanding recall elections for legislators who supported Gov. Walker.
Rev. Jesse Jackson has entered the fray, swearing he'll escalate the protests.
Jesse Jackson told Fox News, "You will either have collective bargaining through a vehicle called collective bargaining or you're going to have it through the streets."

Why should education be exempt from budgeting?

Why should education be exempt from recession budgeting?

Jay Gould, a 19th-century railroad tycoon and unrepentant rapscallion, said he was a Democrat when in Democratic districts and a Republican when in Republican districts but that he was always for the Erie Railroad. Gould, emblematic of Gilded Age rapaciousness, was called a robber baron. What should we call people whose defining constancy is that they are always for unionized public employees? Call them Democrats.

FDR, OBAMA: Wilsonian ideals

Franklin Roosevelt, an alumnus of Wilson's administration, resolved to "resume" Wilson's "march along the path of real progress" by giving government "the vibrant personal character that is the very embodiment of human charity." He repudiated the Founders' idea that government is instituted to protect pre-existing and timeless natural rights, promising "the re-definition of these rights in terms of a changing and growing social order."

George Will: Margaret Thatcher

"By blackening the skies with crisscrossing dollars," Voegeli says, the welfare state encourages people "to believe an impossibility: that every household can be a net importer of the wealth redistributed by the government." But the welfare state's problem, today becoming vivid, is socialism's problem, as Margaret Thatcher defined it: Socialist governments "always run out of other people's money."

He felt thrill going up his leg

Chris Matthews said that during Obama's speech he felt this thrill going up his leg. Then, later on Hardball, he was harrasing Rep. Michele Bachmann and kept asking a question she did not want to answer. Mathews accused her of being evasive. She quickly replied by asking: how's that tickle going up your leg tonight?

Rep. Michele Bachmann

“There is incredible instability in the Middle East. President Obama’s policies have made us more vulnerable than ever due to our dependence on foreign oil. And what is he doing? He’s approved only one [oil drilling] lease — and that one was in the last week — since he’s come into office.
“As soon as he took office his new Interior Secretary Ken Salazar canceled 77 leases. And now that oil is trading at over $100 a barrel, it is time that we open up American energy interests. We need to go for shale oil or natural gas. We have 25 percent of the world’s coal. So we need to access our own energy so we can become less dependent on these unstable regions.
“Remember the president’s current energy secretary, Steven Chu, said that we want the United States to have the same price of gasoline as Europe has. When he made that comment, Europe had gas at $8 a gallon. This is exactly what the ambition of the Obama administration is, because they want to move people toward green energy.

More Obama Madness

REVOLT! Tells how to save free speech talk radio from assault by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

The FCC is planning to cripple talk radio.  Not by the fairness doctrine, but by something far worse - threatening to close down stations themselves.
GET SIGNED COPIES OF REVOLT! AT AMAZON.COM OR BN.COM - CLICK HERE!
Their offensive takes three forms:

a)  Shortening the licensing period for radio stations from the current eight years to four.  This change gives the FCC power of life and death over stations while Obama's appointees are still there.

b)  Requiring 25% of talk stations' programming to be locally produced.  Since it costs vastly more to hire a talk show host than to subscribe to a national show, many stations can't afford it.  The result will be forcing many stations to give up talk radio entirely.

c)  Requiring stations to establish community advisory boards.
These boards, composed of "community representatives" will report to the FCC on whether the station is satisfying the needs of the community.  Ratings won't matter, the opinion of these activists will.  With their predictable liberal bias, their reports will provide the basis for an FCC denial of licenses to conservative stations.

The FCC also wants to be able to fine stations for failing to comply with the community board advice, a lesser punishment, with the fines going to NPR!

All these measures have one aim: To extinguish free speech.

Violation of U. S. Constitution by City of Whigham, GA

Dear elected officials of City of Whigham, I came before the city council December 8, 2009 to request city water meter to a mobile home located on my property at 322 Cleon Waldrop Road. I told you then that the water pipe belonged to me and was located on my property. That city had no easement. No member made any motion at this meeting, or two later meetings, to even table for further study. Now I know why. I was told by the Mayor 1/25/2010 that my hookup to my 2 inch pipe would cause David Crawford to raise hell about lower pressure.
May I remind you that the U. S. Constitution requires equal treatment of all its citizens? The Takings Clause of the Fifth Amendment of the United States Constitution, made Applicable to the States through the Fourteenth Amendment, provides: “Nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.”
I told George Trulock in May 2010 at his place of business, that city of Whigham had confiscated my water line that is located on my property, that it had extended my water line 2100 feet to the Croley Restaurant, that City had violated the fifth and 14th amendments of the U. S. Constitution by “confiscation of private property for public use”. He said that he would bring up Constitutional issue before the city council. Did he?
It is unconstitutional not to share what ever pressure there is. The City of Whigham has confiscated my property without just compensation. City of Whigham is in violation of the fifth and fourteenth Constitutional amendments. How did  this happen? By moving my old water meter from 189 Cleon Waldrop Rd. across from school house, down to my old farm house, and locating it so that I could not see it. Then, hooked onto my private water line and ran it 2100 more feet to the south to serve Croly’s Restaurant, June 12, 1998. This water meter was also installed out of sight of the road. This was intentional deception. I have not filed suit earlier because I did not know until December 2009 that this deception had occurred. I was obligated to continue water to my old farm house, but not after city relocated the meter. This was intentional theft of my private property. Also, I never received my meter deposit, further deception.
I know that some of you were not on the city council in those intervening years, but you were obligated to look into it after my three meetings informing you of all the above. You totally failed to address my grievances.
I am advising you individually and collectively that I will bring suit against the City of Whigham for violation of my U. S. Constitutional rights, which I intend to collect for the cost of installation of a community water system.
This is the requisite notification of my intended lawsuit. And that I will publish this letter to Whigham voters.
Sincerely,
George Bivins

Newt For President

Saturday, March 05, 2011

Dear Editor, I think that Americans ought to draft Newt Gingrich as our next President of the United States of America. He is an historian of unequaled knowledge of American History. There is nothing that America needs today more than a good sense of American history. We need a president that knows the U. S. Constitution, and the Bill of Rights like the back of his hand. One who has a good understanding of the legislative process from the moment he steps into the oval office. One who will not turn his office over to the Wall street bankers. One who has the experience of being Speaker of the U. S. House of representatives. One who does not lie to the American People.

Obama Legacy: Stagflation

OBAMA'S LEGACY: STAGFLATION

By DICK MORRIS

Obama's failure to support America's allies in the Middle East and his dithering endorsement of chaos in the region will send oil and gasoline prices skyrocketing, triggering a massive bout of stagflation. This vicious cycle of rising prices, decreased consumption, and ever higher prices (as vendors seek to recover higher fixed costs) will cripple the American economy for years to come.

This is Obama's true legacy.

Loss of the dollar as world reserve currency

Real estate billionaire Sam Zell told CNBC today " My single biggest financial concern is the loss of the dollar as the reserve currency. I can't imagine anything more disasterous to our country." He continued, " I'm hoping against hope that ain't gonna happen, but you're already seeing things in the markets that are suggesting that confidence in the dollar is waning. Zell predicts a "25% reduction in the standard of living" if the U. S.  loses its place as the reserve currency.

World Food Prices

"Global food prices are rising to dangerous levels and threaten tens of millions of poor people around the world," said World Bank President Robert Zoellick. About 44 million people in emerging markets have fallen into poverty because of rising food prices, according to the World Bank.
The World Bank's Global Food Price Index jumped 15% between October 2010 and the end of January.
Over the last year, global food prices have increased by 29% partially due to weather shocks such as the Russian drought and floods in China. The real culprit is just old fashioned booming demand as the growing middle class in emerging markets, like India and China, simply are eating more and better.
In China, for example, the consumer price index rose 4.9% in January from a year earlier. That's a pretty high inflation rate by itself, but it was especially disturbing to hear that food prices have jumped by 10.3% in the last year.
Many important foods were up even more: grain up by 15%; sugar by 20%; eggs by 20%; cooking oil up 22%; and fresh fruit surged 34%.
